Recycled silver & gold

The mining of new gold and silver is very damaging, both to nature and to the workers.
That’s why we work with conflict-free, recycled resources. 95% of our silver & gold is recycled from old jewellery pieces or bought from a metal refinery specialised in recycling precious metals in Belgium, which is certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC); the leading standard authority in the global jewellery industry.

Recycled silver & gold

Recycled silver

We use sterling (925) silver. This means it consists out of 92.5% of pure silver. The other 7.5% is a different metal to strengthen it, as pure silver is too soft to be used in jewellery.

All main parts of our jewellery are made from recycled silver, but as we are a small studio, some of the small findings (e.g. clasps) have to be purchased from a larger supplier. For these small parts, we can’t 100% guarantee if they are fully recycled. This is an important point for us that we hope to change in the future.

Recycled gold

We use 14K and 18K gold, the 2 most commonly used alloys for gold. The number refers to the amount of gold. Pure gold (24K) cannot be used for jewellery, as it is too soft.

  • 14K gold means the alloy consists out of 58.5% of pure gold.

  • 18K gold means the alloy consists out of 75% of pure gold.

Same as for our recycled silver, sometimes, small golden parts or findings have to be purchased from a larger supplier. For our engagement & wedding rings, this is never the case, and these are made from fully recycled & certified-conflict free gold.

For both 14K and 18K gold, we provide 3 different colours: yellow gold, red/pink gold and white gold.

When making an appointment for an engagement ring, wedding ring or custom design, all of these options can be discussed in our studio.
